I was listening to the radio, this week and it just so happened I heard a young lady’s voice and the question was something like is a women too picky if she is only willing to date a man with no children and she is over 30. Now a plethora of things came to mind some being super relevant to the situation and some wondering why this was even being discussed. But more than anything what exploded in my heart was what if God wants to give you something that you said you will never want. What if in our oh so human and imperfect ways we miss bits of our blessings because we are to focused on what we don’t want and not focused enough on what God wants us to want. It reminds me a little of when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane he didn’t want to suffer a humiliating and painful death he said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Yet not my will. Yes, he was head to head with something so terrible we couldn’t even began to image the horror, but he still wanted God’s will to be done because he knew the great and beautiful joy that was to come out of that moment. I think that is our biggest difference, we can see the beauty at the end of letting God’s will overrides our don’t wants. But it’s there in all its blazing glory beautiful and spectacular. So next time you’re praying to God about what you don’t want, remember to add yet not my will, but yours be done and see what good things the Father has in store for you!
